Knowledge, Power And Forgetfulness

Knowledge and human power are synonymous.

Francis Bacon

I like finding websites that are informative and useful. After reading a news story at Google News I searched for maps of the region. I found an interesting online map collection and spent over an hour looking at ethnic and political maps.

I felt excited to find a new place to learn from. Knowledge gives me ideas to work with and enables me to better understand the world around me.

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

Douglas Adams

One important tool in retaining knowledge (and thus its power) is our ability to remember. I thought about this as I continued surfing the net this morning. I noticed in Supermum and other blogs the following link:

Unite Against Fascism

The link leads to 'Bloggers United Against Fascism' a site informing people about the 'British National Party'. The BNP supports things like stopping immigration, sending non - white Britons back to their original countries, and so on.

I went whoa! Is this Britain? Is this the country that survived the blitz and fought six years to defeat Hitler? Sadly it is. Some people want to blindly trod in the footsteps of Weimar Germany. Others, are trying to make people think.

Knowledge is a gift that should be used. We use it to learn and grow. Why do some people turn their brains off and refuse to grow?

I learned many things today. I learned by applying skills and using my brain. Knowledge IS Power.

Sadly it certainly is Britain, the BNP is quite a fiorce in some areas where they have managed to convince poor working class or unemployed people that their lot in life is the fault of the immigrant. People always seek someone to blame, and teh BNP gives them a way of doing so.

I welcome your comments and teh chance to speak.
