My 'evil' friend bought me City Of Heroes for my birthday. I am finally getting into the game and getting addicted.
When I am not blogging at BBD I am running around saving old ladies and swishing my cape. Okay... I don't have a cape... really... I don't. I do look something like Chuck Norris with an exposed brain. I have a Mickey Mouse ear cap, and black duds. Maybe a cape would be better. :)
Excuse me, duty calls.

Slow Days With Games
Life has been slow lately. I have been replaying the Age of Mythology campaign and thinking a lot about writing. I may write here about my old fantasy and SF ideas or I may create a blog for that.
I found a cool game blog called Epochman. Some of the games are addictive.
I tried to get into City of Heroes after my friend bought it for me (that was a surprise) but can't seem to. He raved about it and I always seemed to avoid buying it. Maybe I know why now.
Here is a video about playing online: World of Warcraft in The Simpsons.
Cheers.

Carrot Capers And Arse Races
Officially I am getting better but I still feel tired when doing basic things like laundry.
I find that little treats mean a lot so I have been rewarding myself. I went out for brunch today and had a delightful carrot cake for dessert. The staff at the restaurant gave me an extra treat: my name was written in caramel(?) sauce and there was lots of whip cream on the cake. It was yummy!
I also gave a reward to this blog. Yup, Firemind is the recipient of the MYSTERY CARROT AWARD. You can see the award in the "Awards" section of the sidebar. Clicking on the award will take you to a cool website where you can play various online games (and get your own award). Check out Arse Race and Arseteroids.

Rain And Blogs
The November rain is falling outside. I was cold when I went to breakfast. I hope to get some things done today but that will depend on how I feel.
Right now I am dividing my time between blogging, searching blogs, and playing Age Of Mythology Gold. (It has both AOM and the Titans expansion).
I am working out some post ideas for this blog. I have some memories to write about including: ghost hunting in York, and mountain climbing alone. Both may be long posts and I have to be in the mood to write them.
I was playing around with Blog Search again. I tried search terms like "I like blogging", "I like writing", and "I live in Victoria". I tried others as well. I found several interesting blogs written by people of all ages. A few of them deal with writing. The ones by young people may be featured in a post at 2 Lazy 2 Blog.
I plan to write a series of short posts about blogging at BBD. Topics I am thinking about include 'citing sources', and 'comments'.
It looks like I will be busy for a while. Maybe I should have set aside some housekeeping chores 'for a rainy day' too. Naaaahhh. ^__^

Voluntary Hobo
I had brunch and went to my regular Friday volunteer shift. It was very busy but there were no problems at all. I had to run an errand for my boss so I got to walk uptown and enjoy the sunshine.
I ran some errands for myself after the shift ended and then caught the bus home. I could have walked but I was a little tired and I also didn't want to risk getting sunburned. When I got home my bare arms felt slightly "flushed" so I guess I made the right decision.
My glasses are ready so I have to get go to the optician tomorrow and get them adjusted. Tomorrow may be an odd day but I think I will adapt quickly.
Various people commented in my last post and requested photos. Maybe I will combine all of the ideas to make a weird portrait. ^__^
Tonight I have been chatting with friends and playing Hobo Wars. Being a hobo was okay and it lead to me joining another blog.
Today has been full of surprises.
Cheers.

Alive: Sort Of.
Gah, I wanted to get so many things done today. I did nothing but sleep. I have been feeling ill for a few days but nothing heavy just sluggishness. Luckily I can eat and my store of granola bars has saved me from hunger.
Playing Civ has helped for the odd hours I am awake. The Rock & Roll wonder I mentioned is one of the cool new ones. Like "Broadway" and "Hollywood" it makes citizens happy, provides a cultural boost, and produces a trade item (hit singles). If only the real historical attitudes towards rock were as simple and clear.
I went to read my favourite blogs and got a surprise. The mastageekysomethingorother has changed again. I'll have to get it all worked out. Everyone stop by and tell him to find a name and stick to it.
Shogun posted after missing a day. I don't like to pressure friends to blog because I know how tough it can be. But if more people stop by and say hi he might be encouraged to blog more. :)
Okay, I had a snack and now I am off to have a real meal. The granola bar means I resist biting the waiters as they take my order. haha.

Whoa!
Today's shift was quiet for the first hour or so and then things got really hectic. I had to calm a person down and talk with him for a bit. That went okay but as soon as that was done another situation arose. Working with people can be quite intense sometimes.
After I left the office I had an early supper and managed to relax. I then went and looked at books and computer games. I am interested in "Warlords", the first expansion for Civ 4, and CivCity. CivCity is a cross between SimCity and Civilization.
I hope to get some housework done tonight because my aunts will be visiting on Sunday. All I want to do right now is lay down and rest or even sleep.

Playing With History
One of my favourite types of question begins with "what if". I like to read alternate history fiction and play games that change history.
One of my favourite gaming memories involved playing as the Vikings in Civilization 2. I got involved in a war against the Americans and the Persians and defeated both. They could not withstand my tanks and aircraft.
Civilization 4 also mixes nations from different eras but adds a new dimension in the form of religion. In my current game I am playing the Indians and my state religion is Buddhism. I managed to make the Chinese an ally by converting most of their cities to my religion. Previously they were more friendly with the Arab Confucianists.
In a game where Islamic Aztecs can build the Eiffel Tower or conquer Spain: "what if" gets answered in many surprising ways.

Cerebrum Posterior Noise
Gah, I have been playing Civ 4 and was going to blog about it. Well I'll have to do it later because my mind blew a brainfart. What a fast way to lose ambition and concentration. LOL. I guess I will go see a dumb movie to let the old think-tank rest and recuperate.
Cheers.

Monday Madness
Things were kind of weird in Firemind Labs today.
My rubber arm was twisted and I downloaded the IMVU 3D IM. It was weird. We had more fun making the avatars breakdance, fight and kiss (eeewwww, hahaha), than chatting. The program is a little odd but considering it is beta it's not too bad.
I played too many shoot-George-Bush games today. It seems that boredom is contagious.
I will start a new game of Civ tonight. So far it is interesting and new. In response to Fin's comment in my last post: I found Civ 3 slower than version 2 and used to get bored when gunpowder was discovered too. That is when the emphasis changes to micromanaging the nation and - for me - is the least interesting part. I will have to see how things turn out.
I added another song to 2 Lazy 4 Radio. I know of so many songs that deserve a comment or two. :)
I may post again later.
Cheers.

Sunday Wasn't Funday
Sunday morning I was up early working on blogs and chatting with friends. I got a massive stomach ache for no reason and had to lay down. I tried everything else but it wouldn't go away. Finally I managed to fall asleep.
When I woke up my stomach was okay and I was hungry so I ate and went online.
Last night I finished my first game of Civ 4 and enjoyed it. After playing for 11 hours (accumulated time)I won by sending a spaceship to Alpha Centauri. That was cool but I was a little disappointed with the way the ending is handled compared to previous games. Oh well.

Black Hole
I was going to write about my day and other stuff but wanted to leave things alone for a bit. I found the perfect way to avoid blogging tonight... I bought Civilization IV.
I will remember to come up for air once in a while. :)
