Marcel Marceau

When I heard Marcel Marceau had died I immediately thought of his role in Silent Movie. He was the only one that spoke in the whole movie - and this made me laugh.

He made lots of people laugh.

Cheers

Movie Review: Fido

Fido is a strange cross between Shaun Of The Dead and Leave It To Beaver. It is set in a post apocalyptic 1950's world where human survivors are served by zombies made docile by electronic collars.

When Fido - Timmy's pet zombie - eats a neighbour things get complicated and Timmy learns that even zombies can act like human beings.

This is a fun and ultimately warm film about life, learning, and friendship. The acting is good and K'sun Ray plays Timmy very well.

There is a fair amount of blood and gore but it doesn't dominate the film. The gore mixes with the black humour to keep viewers on edge.

I enjoyed this movie and recommend it for anyone who likes comedy and/or horror. I saw a few families with kids aged 10 or 11 and the kids looked like they enjoyed it.

I Am Alive

I was busy last week with my other blogs. I posted some lighthearted pop songs at 2 Lazy 4 Video and lots of stuff at Big Blog Directory. BBD has been busy all week and I have another submission to process.

I managed to see Pan's Labyrinth and really enjoyed it. It has great characters, an interesting story, and awesome special effects. I was going to review it but this review at the media nook mirrors many of my impressions.

By the end of the week I was feeling tired out and weak. I didn't go to my volunteer job and spent most of the last few days sleeping or reading. I finished the first two books of Jack L Chalkers "Well World" series. I had read them before - the first one several times. I'll add them to my Booklist 2007 when I set it up.

Well, I don't feel sick anymore but I am still tired. Thanks, Comyn, for checking up on me.

A Good Day

Sunday (yesterday) was a good day. It wasn't an easy day but it was good.

In the early morning I got to talk with one friend and deal with some things. Last night I talked with another and this helped too. One thing friends are good for is helping people work out problems.

I feel like I am doing something to help myself rather than just sit still and fret over what happens to me. The more important a change is to me: the more I want to think it through before acting. Sometimes that doesn't work.

I think I am making progress.

Last night I worked on things a different way. I took a break from them.

I popped online, checked movie times, said a quick "hello" to a friend, and then dashed off to catch the bus.

The movie I saw was Flyboys and I really enjoyed it. The movie is about American fighter pilots who fought for France in WW1. The characters are interesting and the action is exciting (just remember your air-sickness bag, LOL).

That was my day.

Cheers.

Bon Movie, Fun Movie

I just got back from Bon Cop, Bad Cop and I must say I enjoyed it. It has a bizarre murderer; tough and interesting cops; some hilarious scenes; and good characters.

It's a very Canadian movie with tension between Ontario and Quebec; and between French and English. The plot centers around two detectives trying to find out who is murdering people in the professional Hockey business. The detectives are a mismatched pair and the interplay between them keeps the movie going.

The movie is in English and subtitled French. The jokes arising from the language issue are very funny.

If you get a chance to see the movie do so. You won't regret it.

Post Movie Blahness

I went to see "Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest". It was sufficiently fun and stupid enough that my boggled brain could ease up and relax. It was nice to get out and do something different. Unfortunately I am now too drowsy to do any profound blogging.

Satisfying Day

It has been a long day and I am tired.

I slept poorly last night and had trouble getting to sleep. I slept a few hours and then went to Dim Sum with friends. It was interesting to hear one person talk about his online friends just like I do.

After we separated I stopped in a music store to look at cds but I didn't buy any.

When I got home I slept for a few hours and then went online. I chatted with a friend for a while and then got ready to eat and see a movie. I was just checking movie times when the phone rang.

The phone call was from my mom. She was calling from home and that surprised me because I thought she was still in hospital. She was in Burnaby for a hip replacement and had the operation on the 9th of June. She left the hospital last Thursday (that's less than a week!) and flew back to Whitehorse. She's a tough "old lady". :)

I talked with mom for quite a bit and then rechecked the movie time. I was hungry so I stopped at a restaurant for a burger on the way to the movie.

I watched The Da Vinci Code and enjoyed it. I liked the mystery aspects of the story and the ideas presented. It was long but had lots of things to say. The movie didn't feel slow.

I have ventured out into the world and now I am home. Now I can read blogs and relax before bed.

Good night.

Meh

I want to go back to bed. I might.

Yesterday I tried to get someone out of a bad mood and got hung up on. I guess I should leave things alone sometimes.

I had a craving for lasagna and went to the Old Spaghetti Factory again. The lasagna was yummy.

I keep remembering lines from Kinky Boots. I saw the movie last week and loved it. The soundtrack is awesome too and some of the songs are sung by the actor (Chiwetel Ejiofor) who played Lola.

I guess it is time to load some games. I need to thrash something - and not get into trouble for it. Ha ha.
