I was reading Coptalk and got involved in an interesting discussion. I have to correct my out of date facts.
Legal Age of Consent - information from different countries.
"The age of consent for anal intercourse is 18, while it is 14 for vaginal intercourse."
Info for Canada.
This comment made me think. Is vaginal sex any less hazardous than anal sex. I also think 18 is fine for relations with adults. For teens the 'two year rule' used to determine consent involving minors should work.
For example: if the potential partners are within 2 years age of each other they can consent to have sex. Children under twelve cannot consent to have sex. This is based on reading the sexual assault laws.
I can think objectively about this... I am not a parent.

The age of consent here in Iowa is 16, but it varies from state to state here in the states.

There have been many cases of girls in the UK getting pregnant below the age of consent, but I can't recall a single prosecution of either partner.

Even in healthy partners I am sure that vaginal sex is less hazardous, and let's remember, both passages are designed for different functions.
I was thinking only about pregnancy and std's when I wrote that.
