Marching Bands

On the Victoria Day Weekend bands arrive from all over Canada and the US to participate. They help boost our economy and provide great music. My favourite bands are those from the Highschools and Middle/Junior High Schools.

I talked with many parents, band members, and teachers on the weekend. I met people from California, Oregon, and Washington State. Some of the bands have been coming to Victoria for the last twenty years in a row.

Some of the bands performed at the legislature on Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday I went out on a photoshoot. It was lots of fun.

In the parking lots just south of The Embassy Hotel bands were practicing and gearing up for the 'March Past' at the legislature.

Even band members get hungry. Instruments were left in a pile as the students went to eat.

There was a lot to see on the legislature grounds. Some of the routines were amazing. Some were funny. How do you like a hustle with hip bumps?

I like to see people get into their music.

There was so much to see. I kept turning off my camera for a while to coax some more use out of it. It worked and my 93 pics are in this set.

Joel - it was fun. Today was fun too. BTW, I saw at least two schools from California: Davis (near Sacramento), and Shoreville from ?
j.t. - thanks for stopping by.

Those band members looked like they were REALLY hungry. They made a big mess!
