Lucky by Eddie Oliveira tells the story of Sam Smith a teenager living in the Surbiton area of Greater London. He is attracted to both boys and girls but doesn't know whether he is gay, straight, or bisexual.
Sam meets a bisexual guy named Toby and they seem to heading towards a relationship. They become good friends and Toby even joins Sam's football (soccer) team. Things get really complicated when they meet a girl they both like.
This is an interesting book. On one level we have Sam working out his sexuality and his relationship to Toby and Lucy. On another we have Sam adapting to the changes in the lives of his friends and fellow footballers.
There is a lot of humour and some sad parts in the book. It isn't as gut wrenching a story as Hard Love though. The story is well written and the characters are interesting. The British slang can take some getting used to but it doesn't lessen the story any.
If you are looking for an interesting story about teens and teen issues check out this book.
